making the bed

Can you see why it takes me twenty minutes to make the bed? This cat thinks everything is a game between him and I, and he doesn't like to lose. I often just make the bed right over him and wait for him to come out when he deems "safe." Funny how the same blankets he sleeps on all night can pose such a threat the next morning. At least he makes mundane chores fun, right? I sure love everything about this curious little guy.

Poor jo-jo...

Our little Joey started acting very sick yesterday- meowing like crazy, not eating or drinking, and he would barely move. He wouldn't get out of his litter box and even started drooling and throwing up. Poor kitty. So we took him to the vet and found out he had an urethal obstruction, which is a life-threating condition in cats and must be treated right away. They took him to surgery and cleared the blockage, placed a catheter, and started him on IV fluids.

He is now an inpatient at Cottonwood Animal Hospital and will be there until at least Tuesday. So of course we had to go visit him today to help lift his spirits. He'll be on a special diet now in hopes to prevent any future blockage. He's such a good kitty and we're proud of him for being so brave. We can't wait to bring him back home!!

Joey's joy ride

We decided to bring joey along to a family gathering, because our family loves him and always asks about him. My niece Kate has even been moved to tears worrying about the cat. If you've never had the pleasure of meeting joey, you're missing out; he really has quite the personality. Riding in the car was not exactly a walk in the park for him, and I now fully understand the expression "nervous as a cat." Despite his anxiety, he was determined to figure out where we were going and why. I don't think we'll be taking another road trip any time soon.

El gato grande

Whenever people see our cat, Joey, for the first time, they often remark on how large he is. I don't really buy into it because I think he is just a normal sized cat. We got him as a kitten almost 2 years ago, so to me, he is still just a little kitty-cat. But my, has he grown! The only thing that hasn't changed are his ears! Joey, spring 2006

Jo-Jo

Joey (aka jo-jo) is our kittycat whom we just love to pieces. This is my favorite picture of him, because his personality just shines through. He is about 1 1/2 yrs old and our baby, for now. His favorite things are sleeping in the sun, playing hide-and-go-seek, Purina cat chow, water from the faucet, and cuddling. He's a single man, so look out ladies!
